Alaska Uma @alaskauma@ohai.social
I obtained a BE in Mechanical Engineering to work in alternate energy. After my bachelors, I joined the U.S. Peace Corps and was a high school math teacher in Kenya (1983-85) during the time of a severe drought. This led me to pursue a graduate degree in Atmospheric Sciences, which has turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. I teach and conduct research on Alaska/Arctic climate variability and change. I am lucky to work with people from various disciplines. Always learning!
