New Modem Project

Robots screaming at each other

I mentioned this back when I ran out of funds to keep my Vonage line that I had since 2016, and also my 416 numbers which actually I cared about, that I had problems with the modem initialising on the BBS machine until the day my lines were cut. Such irony.

Now that I’m back employed and the funds are getting slightly better I wanted to get my modem line back. I paid off Vonage, well the debt collectors they sent after me, but it seems now I can’t re-activate my Vonage box which is provider locked. Basically they just created e-waste, so that’s cool Vonage.

Now I’m looking at Plan B, I tried to use my old Grandstream box but that is completely dead now, none of the phone lines are energised and the phone will never ring. New plan is just buy the same HT802 box Vonage used since that works.

I have to wait until I get paid at the end of the month before I can order one, but the idea is to use VoIP.ms to try and see if I can get the modem to be accessible again, plus VoIP.ms is so much more cheaper than Vonage ever was, so if shit goes bad again I’m not going to find myself fucked.

I’ve setup a number that I’m going to use, it is both voice and data as I’m not going to run multiple numbers to save money - (647) 483-5152 - when the modem line is connected it’ll be on option 2. I’m still working on the whole IVR side and how to deliver the call but nowhere near actually testing it out.

That’s the project and I’m keen to make it work.
